2025 Games We’re Excited to Play

It’s here! 2025 is upon us and so are a bunch of games we can’t wait to play. You just (may have) read our dev update to start the year, and I want to balance out the nerdy-coder speak with some actual games that us at LFGdating can’t wait to play.

Ghost of Yotei

Expected to play a lot like Ghost of Tsushima, I expect evolved gameplay. The immersive world, the emotional storylines, the ability to straight up stabby stab someone repeatedly, this will get some play. I’m kind of hoping it the pwning feels a bit like a samurai version of F.E.A.R. While not much talked about on the subreddit yet, I’m staying tuned.

Borderlands 4

Hell. Yeah. Borderlands 4 is creating a world. It might not be a traditional open world setting, but Gearbox is definitely breaking out the creative juices and building something they haven’t built before in the Borderlands series. I’ll be honest here…I have no idea what to expect regarding how Gearbox will develop a storyline…but I’m also not sold they need to. I’m 50/50 if this will land well. What will land well? Rampaging.

Death Stranding 2

Helmed by Hideo Kojima and Kojima Productions, DS2 is poised to be a monumental sequel. Norman Reedus reprises his role as Sam Porter Bridges, navigating a fractured world where every decision impacts the narrative. We’re looking for a back half of the year release, and GameSpot does a great job of compiling more information. This might win the “I turned on the console and didn’t leave the couch for 10 straight hours” award.

Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater

Everyone loves a good remake. Or most people do. Or some. Hell I don’t care how many but we’re excited for this one. A refreshed Metal Gear Solid 3 will be on full display, and if you want to litigate the merits of “faithful” remakes, visit this Reddit post. And for all the things I don’t know about this world (too many to count or care about), I do know that I will look at anyone the same way I looked at my roommate at 23 when playing MSG 3: stop talking to me I’m playing the game.

Tron: Catalyst

10/10 for the music already. Maybe it’s a guilty pleasure, or maybe it’s just that I like this music and will perpetually feel like Ryan Gosling in Drive. Either way it’s a win. And while I want to call out that I’m not a Disney fan, I have my reasons. But for this release, I just want to have some fun. Do not ruin this for me, Disney.

2025 will be a fun gaming year. We had a few Indie titles in here during ideation, one of them being Sleight of Hand, I inserted executive decisioning and included Catalyst.

Cheers to the New Year!
